Allegri Rules Out Chelsea Move as Abramovich Decides Against Future Simeone Approach
uventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has rejected talk that he could be the man to take over at Chelsea in the summer.
Speaking to Sky Italy, he revealed that there is nothing to the repeated speculation that he could become the clubs long-term successor to Jose Mourinho. Guus Hiddink is currently in charge at Chelsea on an interim basis, but it had been reported recently that Allegri had agreed a four-year deal to take over at Stamford Bridge from the end of the season.
However, that doesn't appear to be the case as Allegri flat-out denied the talk in a recent interview. He said: "There's nothing to it. I cannot either confirm or deny something that doesn't exist.
"I want this matter over and done with now. What's important for me right now is to get to the end of the season with Juventus and try and win some silverware."
Allegri's latest comments have thrown the running open again, and Chelsea have been linked with a number of other managerial targets since Mourinho's sacking in December. They have however missed out to Manchester City on Pep Guardiola, while Carlo Ancelotti will take the Spaniard's place at Bayern Munich.
One long-standing candidate has been Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone, but Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has ruled the Argentinian's name out of the race as he is not a fan of his style of play, and doesn't believe it's the right fit for Chelsea.
Abramovich is concerned that despite Simeone's successes with Atletico, the style he would implement at the club is too workmanlike and too similar to the club's football as when Mourinho was in charge. The Mail report that Abramovich will not approach him despite the fact Atletico have been competing alongside Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent seasons.
Italian national coach Antonio Conte has been linked with the post too, as he is expected to move back in to club football after Euro 2016
